My Adventures

Adventure racing is a natural progression for me.  I have been a competitive cyclist and triathlete for most of my life.  In 2004, I was finishing up my last triathlon season.  I joined a local adventure racing team to find a new challenge in the outdoor.  We started with 8 hour races, but I wanted more.  24 hour races seemed to be perfect.  They were just long enough to challenge me physically and mentally.  In 2005, I did the Baja Travesia  five day adventure race with team Thin Air.    Serious medical issues forced the team to abandon the race.  In 2007, we returned to Baja to get a top five finish with my team.  Today, adventure racing is still my primary sport.  I am team manager for Racing with Giants and still actively racing.

Giving Back

I give back to the community as a cycling coach for Team Sheeper and through my non-profit, California Adventure Racing Association.  I focus on people that are just starting into the sport.  I help them to be safe on the bike and enjoy the sport.  My passion is cycling, but adventure racing seems to provide the mental challenge that most sports do not offer.

My latest challenge has been as an author of a cycling book, “Start Spinning Your Wheels”.  This is a unique guide to help people buy their first bike and have fun with it.
